Description
Dental veneers can dramatically improve the appearance of your smile by changing the shape, size, and color of one or more teeth. Dr. Kevin Trotter recommends veneers to patients with worn, chipped, or fractured teeth, gaps between their teeth, and misaligned teeth. With proper care, veneers can last a decade or more.

A veneer is basically like a contact lens that goes over your tooth. It's used to change shape, size, color of teeth, particularly for aesthetic reasons. So we use veneers a lot to close spaces to deal with patients that don't like their smiles. It's an amazing tool that looks and feels like natural teeth and functions like natural teeth, but it doesn't stain and it looks very natural.
So I think that veneers are a great option for people that want to improve their smile. That makes a really big difference. It's one of my favorite things to do because it has that wow factor for patients. A good candidate for a dental veneer or a porcelain veneer is somebody who has either worn, chipped teeth, fractured teeth, spacing between teeth, misaligned teeth, and either doesn't want to go through braces or orthodontic treatment, or it may not need that type of treatment. It can be used for anybody wanting to improve their smile or cosmetic types of cases.
Dental veneers can last many, many, many years. I think that as long as patients exercise good homecare, brush, floss, see their dentist every six months, dental veneers can last a lifetime. I think the average veneer in our practice, what we strive for with success, is 15 years. That's our goal, but every case is different.
